Following our first meeting this past weekend, we are all excited to get to work, starting with our presence at the MLA Annual Meeting in March. Unfortunately, due to the concern surrounding the ongoing pandemic, the meeting has been moved online, meaning we will not get to meet in person. Still, there will be plenty of opportunities to meet with each other through the First Time Attendees’ session, the Get Involved Session, the MLSTEP Interest Group meeting, and the various presentations being given by members of our community. In the lead-in to the annual meeting, I’ll make sure to provide you all with a full list of dates and times for these events so you can be sure you mark them on your Sched!

Speaking of the lead-in to MLA Annual, keep your eyes on this space in February as there will be a series of “Meet the Officers” posts being published so you can get to know our leadership before the conference, as well as another blog post detailing how myself and Janet Hilts, our PNW liaison got to present at this year’s conference.

Finally, there are a few officer and liaison positions still vacant that we would love to fill! I’ll list them below – please do not hesitate to contact me if you are interested. More information regarding the vacant posts will be discussed at the MLSTEP Interest Group Meeting during MLA Annual as well.

  • Membership Officer, vacant
  • Outreach Officer, vacant
  • Atlantic Liaison, vacant
  • Southeast Liaison, vacant
  • California Liaison, vacant
  • Texas Liaison, vacant

While we won’t be shaking hands for another year, I am still very excited to see you all in March and just as excited for another year in which we can build on the progress made last year.

See you all on the web!
-Geo
